Velda J. Brown

Velda J. (Rutherford) Brown, age 76, of Brownsville, PA passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 21st, 2025. She was born on April 23rd, 1949 in Centerville, PA Daughter of the late Ralph and Alverda (Edwards) Rutherford Velda and her friend Erica, started The Desert Storm Support Group for The Brownsville Area. She was very active and volunteered her time at her church, United Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Coal Center, PA. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Wayne Anthony Brown four sisters: Peggy Cowell, Ruth Frazier, Elizabeth Fowler, and Irene Prato her brother: Harry Rutherford Velda is survived by her husband of 59 years: Michael A. Brown two daughters: Christina Brown Dickson Michele A. Csonka and her husband Robert seven grandchildren: Kate Heller, Lauren Hunt, Arthur Hunt and wife Lilly, Anthony Rhodes, Bethany Rhodes, Megan McNeely and husband Steve, and Kaitlyn Csonka and 8 great-grandchildren her twin sister: Zelda Lowden Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends will be received in The Skirpan Funeral Home 135 Park Street Brownsville, PA on Friday, December 26th from 11:00AM until 1:00PM. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00PM with Pastor Amory Merriman officiating. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park.
