Philomena (Fanny) C. Nicola, 94, of Brownsville, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024, with her loving family by her side. Fanny was the last-surving member of her immediate family. She was born July 8, 1929, the daughter of the late Joseph and Domenica Nosky. Fanny retired from Kroger after a long career. Her favorite, life-long hobby was playing cards with her friends. Preceded in death by: loving husband, Sam Nicola; brothers, Joseph (Stella) Nosky, Nick Nosky, Albert (Rose) Noschese, Geno (Evelyn) Noschese; sisters, Elva Grubbs, Margie (Joe) Semonick, Pauline (Mike) Yurek, Mary Flora, Francie Valente; sister-in-law, Rosalie Rockocy, Josephine (Robert) Yarup, Mary (Phil) Nearing; brother-in-law, Charles (Jeri) Nicola, Ronald DeSalvo, niece, Sabrina Nicola, and nephew, Stephen Yarup. Fanny's surviving family includes: her three devoted children, Sherri Nicola (Bill Miler), Tammy (Doug) Herre, and Sam (Tina) Nicola; beloved grandchildren, Samantha (Mike) Strejcek, Zachary Nicola (Emily Butka), Joshua Sobocinski (Emily Orbash), Ashley (Boyd) Bagwell, Allisyn (John) Allison, and Nicolas Herre (Eden Canby); great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Alexander, and Sebastian Strejcek, Ronin and Anara Sobocinski, Brody (Abigail Walters), Talen, and Barrett Bagwell, and Sawyer Allison; great-great grandson, Cohen Bagwell; brother-in-law, Steve Rockocy, sister-in-law, Nancy DeSalvo, and sister-in-law, Norma (Bob) Trombino, and numerous special nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the Skirpan Funeral Home, 135 Park St., Brownsville, PA on Tuesday from 4 - 8 PM and Wednesday until 10:30 AM when a prayer service will be held followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in the Historic Church of St. Peter, Brownsville, PA.
