Pete P. Sobek

Pete P. Sobek, age 83, of Uniontown, PA, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2013 at his residence with his family at his side. Pete was born in the small town of Orient, Fayette County, PA on June 29, 1929 to Stanley and Nellie Gancos Sobek. He was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church of Uniontown. Pete attended Redstone High School and was employed with the Operating Engineers, Local #66 - operating heavy equipment, while also owning and operating Rowes Run Garage for a number of years. After that, Pete and his wife Louise owned and operated Sobek's Lounge for ten years. Here, they met many friends when they had polka dances every weekend. He loved gardening in his small garden, especially growing tomatoes. He was preceded in death by his parents Three brothers and a sister: Frank, Ann, Walter, & Henry Pete is survived by his wife: Louise Krinock Sobek of Uniontown, PA Son: Gary A. Sobek of Manhattan Beach, CA Sister: Stella Green of Dania, FL Two Brothers: Ted Sobek and his family of Perryopolis, PA Stanley and his wife Joyce Karlock Sobek of Rowes Run, PA and their children Juliann Braddock & her husband Alex and Jonathan Sobek and his friend Tiffany. Friends will be received in The Skirpan Funeral Home 680 Cherry Tree Lane Uniontown, PA on Monday from 2-4 and 6-9PM and on Tuesday until 9:15AM where parting prayers will be said followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Joseph R.C. Church - Uniontown, PA with the Rev. Fr. Ronald Simboli as celebrant. Interment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.
