Patricia S. Volek, 76, of Grindstone, PA, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Jefferson Hospital with her family by her side. She was born October 2, 1947, in Uniontown, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Slagle) Volek.
Prior to retirement, she was a teacher for Brownsville Area School District with over 31 years of service. Patty was a devout Catholic and was an active member of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in Brownsville, where she sang in the choir and was a cantor. She was an avid Pittsburgh Sports fan, a talented seamstress and creative craftsperson. She was a lover of animals and volunteered at Fayette Friends of Animals. Patty had a passion for travel. She attended pilgrimages with St. Peter's Church to the Vatican and often included her nephews on many of the bus trips.
Patty will be dearly missed by her brother, Thomas “Al” Volek and his wife Linda; her three nephews, whom she cherished, Thomas “Alan” Volek, and his wife Jennifer, Jeffrey Volek and his wife Amy, Erik Volek and his wife Melanie. “Aunt Patty” will forever be missed by her great nieces and great nephews, Grant, Vivienne, Noah, Ethan, Chloe, Austin and Jordan. She really did make the world a better place just by being in it.
Family and friends will be received at The Skirpan Funeral Home, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, PA 15417 on Sunday from 2-6 PM, where a Prayer Service will be held on Monday at 1:00 pm followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:30 PM in The Historic Church of St. Peter with Rev.
