Merle D. Moody

Merle "Butch" Moody, of the Malden area, age 79, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023 in the Emergency Room at Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. Merle was born on April 19, 1944, son of the late John Merle and Ella Louise (Bakewell) Moody. Butch was a 1962 graduate of Brownsville Area High School. He worked construction with Local #286 and #373 until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and being with friends. He was a member of The A.C. Club and the California Gun Club. Merle is survived by his wife, Patricia (Kapel) Moody; two daughters, Jaime Richardson (Jimmy) of Greenville, SC and Barbie Griffin (Tim) of Acworth, GA; three grandchildren, Jenna Gross (Danny) of Chapin, SC. Timothy Griffin and Eric Griffin, both of Acworth, GA; a great granddaughter, Evelyn Gross of Chapin, SC; as well as his sister, Carol Jean Ifraiwan. Friends will be received at The Skirpan Funeral Home, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, PA 15417 on Friday from 10 AM until the Service at 12:00 Noon, with Pastor Edward Truitt officiating.
