She then moved to Chicago in the early fifties where she spent the majority of her working career. She retired from Gerold Panas and Partners, a non-profit fund-raising corporation, as their office manager.
Alice then moved to Redding, California to spend her retirement years with family. She enjoyed the weather there and was an ardent gardener. She loved to read and she enjoyed music and especially loved dogs. She enjoyed family gatherings and was always the life of the party.
She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Stanovich, her father Albert W. Plichta, her brother William A. Plichta, her sister-in-law, Loretta J. (McKenney) Plichta, her nephew Eric Jergentz and her step-mother Theresa E. (Mercurio) Plichta.
She is survived by her sister Patricia Walters (William) Grove City, Pa. and three nieces, Rhetta L. Reit (Denny), Gretta Jean Byard (Charles), and Suzanne Jergentz (Eric, deceased) all of Redding, CA. Her niece Gretta, aided by her husband, were her loving care-givers as she aged. She is also survived by a great-nephew Nicholas Reit (Amy) and great-niece Hillary Reit and several cousins.
