Karen Lee Carder, age 86, of Brownsville, PA passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. She was born on May 25, 1939 in Seymour, Texas, daughter of the late George and Roselynn Nelson.
Karen had strong religious convictions and beliefs. She was a very gentle and artful soul and loved to crochet. She was a loving mother who loved her children more than life itself. She enjoyed spending time with her best friend Connie Morris, of Clarksburg, WV.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her oldest sister, Elodee Bowers, whom she loved dearly.
Left to cherish her memory is her siblings: George Nelson, of Reno, NV, Marlana Lozano, of Las Vegas, NV, and Rose Richardson, of the world; her children: Ken (Audra) Curtis, of Texas, Kathryn Alley, of Brownsville, PA, Renea (Dan) Bratton, of Florida, and Kevin (Brittany) Ferrell, of West Virginia; grandchildren: Kenny and Steven Curtis, of Texas, Nicole Marrcotte, of Chicago, IL, David and Josh Alkire of Florida; great-grandchildren: Ava, Victoria, and Elias; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
As per Karen’s wishes, service will be private and in the care of Skirpan Funeral Home.
