James Barnett Obituary

James D. Barnett, age 85, of Venetia, PA and formerly of Uniontown, PA passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at his home. He was born in Runville, PA, son of the late Rev. A.L. and Bessie Dobson Barnett Mr. Barnett was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, Deacon, and Trustee. He graduated from South Huntingdon High School and Echles School of Mortuary Science. Mr. Barnett was the owner and operator of the former James D. Barnett Funeral Home in Uniontown, PA and was also a funeral director at The Barnett-Skirpan Funeral Home in Uniontown, PA. He was a member and Past President of The Southwest Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association. Mr. Barnett was a Veteran of WW II and The Korean Conflict He was a life member of the VFW Past President of the Former Uniontown Exchange Club Laurel Lodge F & AM #651 of Uniontown Scottish Rite Bodies in The Valley of Uniontown Syria Shrine and The Uniontown Chapter #263 Order of The Eastern Star He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Peggy L. Barnett Son: James D. Barnett Jr. and his wife Rene' - Farmington, NM Grandchildren: Sarah Wagner and husband Robert Jonathan Burville Great-Grandchildren: Dakota and Logan Wagner Sister: Sara Jane Abbott - Madison, PA Mr. Barnett was preceded in death by his daughter: Sheree L. Burville Sisters: Viola Brandstetter and Maxine Cree Brother: Charles Barnett Friends will be received in The Barnett-Skirpan Funeral Home 680 Cherry Tree Lane Uniontown, PA on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9PM and on Saturday where a funeral service will be held at 11:00AM with Rev. John K. Sharp officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery where full Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #51 and The VFW.
