Ervin Cross age 83 of Blainesburg, PA was called to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 13, 2013. He passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. "Pap" was born on February 25, 1930. The son of the late Ervin and Pearl Cross. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Sister, Katherine Pap will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, "Sal" Rose Marie Cross His children, Chris R. Cross and wife Kerri Debbie McKnight and husband Harry Robin Cross Lee Cross and fiancée Darla Pap was dearly loved by all of his grandchildren including, Christie Cross, Bob Cross, Chris and wife Gina Cross, Dr. Stacie McKnight, Niles Hansen and his newest addition great Granddaughter Gia Rose Cross. "Jr", "Freckles", his family nicknames, is survived by Sister Clyeta Huhn Brother, Robert Cross and wife Jean Sister, JoAnn Polk Sister, Becky Charnovich and husband Joe Along with many Nieces and Nephews Ervin Cross proudly served in the United States Navy, was an elder at the Calvin United Presbyterian Church of Brownsville, PA A member of the California Hill Gun Club, the Fayette Seniors Golf Association, and a former member of California Teachers Association and former Mason at A and FM Lodge 60 Pap worked 20 years at US steel in Clairton, PA, before attending California State Teachers College. After receiving his degree, he taught 19 years in the California School District. Pap's unique style of teaching left behind fond memories with his co-workers and numerous students who would recognize him and share their memories wherever their paths crossed. Pap loved every Pittsburgh Team, especially whichever happened to be played at the time. He was an avid golfer, Pap spent many hours making wine and loved spending time with all his friends at the Gun Club. Pap will be missed by his most loyal fan his buddy "Ben". Pap will be fondly remembered for his infectious love of life, his gentle heart and his kind words for all the people lucky enough to have known him. His strong faith will carry him on his journey where he will be waiting for his loved ones. Thank-you pap for your guidance, patience and goodness. We will miss you. Friends will be received in the Skirpan Funeral Home 135 Park St. Brownsville, PA on Saturday, June 15, 2013 from 2 till 8PM the hour of service with the Rev. Jana Quiesenberry officiating. In lieu of flowers Pap ask donations be made to the Calvin United Presbyterian Church, Brownsville, PA.
