Charles Edward Clayton, age 79, of Brownsville, PA passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024 in his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born on November 7, 1944 in Brownsville, son of the late Edward and Vera (Burns) Clayton.
Chuck had retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad as a Locomotive Engineer. During his railroad career, he worked for the Monongahela Railroad, Pennsylvania & Lake Erie Railroad, Conrail, as well as Norfolk Southern Railroads.
Chuck was an avid train collector and was a member of the Lionel Collectors Club of America, Lionel Operating Trains, and The Train Collectors Association. He spent his Wednesday mornings at the Monongahela River Railroad and Transportation Museum.
Chuck was also active for 52 years in the South Brownsville Volunteer Fire Department serving as Chief Engineer Emeritus and President for 20 years. He was also a member of the Fayette County Fireman's Association and Southwestern Chiefs Association.
Chuck was a member of the First Christian Church, Brownsville, PA.
Besides his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Ann Clayton Chancey and granddaughter, Kaitlyn Chancey.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 59 years, Dorothy M. (Kavulic) Clayton; son, Raymond A. and his wife Rita Clayton; great grandson, Easton L. Stroup; brother-in-law, Edward Kavulic and his wife Brenda; nephews, Louie and Johnny Kavulic.
