Betty Jean (Meissner) Wence

Betty Jean Wence, age 96, of Malden, PA passed away on Saturday April 5, 2025. She was born on November 4, 1928 in Brownsville, daughter of the late Fred and Minta (DeBord) Meissner.

Betty was a phenomenal homemaker, mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed her family immensely.  She loved to sit down with her family with a delicious meal and a good cup of coffee.

Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband Francis “Frank” B. Wence; her grandson, Victor John Mattie, Jr.; two brothers, Don and Fred Meissner; her sister, Helen Britvich; and nephew, Chuck Britvich.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Fulton (Debra Ferry) Wence, Roger Wence, and Colette (Bill) Snow; six grandchildren, Valerie (Michael) Williams, Craig (Ashley) Wence, Bryan (Michelle) Wence, Jacqueline Mattie, Grace (Kevin) Neilson, and Randal (Sally) Mattie; also survived by thirteen great grandchildren and her nephew, Fred Britvich.

Friends will be received at The Skirpan Funeral Home, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, PA 15417 on Thursday from 12 Noon until the Memorial Service at 1 PM.  Private interment will be held next to her husband Frank at The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. www.skirpanfuneralhome.com
