On November 18, 2013, Betty Drazenovich went home to heaven to be reunited with her family. Betty, beloved by her two daughters, made an impact on everyone who ever met her. Everywhere she went, she was met with a smile and hug. Beautiful, generous, kind, and intelligent, Betty walked in grace throughout her whole life. She was born the daughter of Dan and Anna Sabolish in Grindstone, Pa. She married Chuck Drazenovich of Brownsville, the ferocious middle linebacker for the Washington Redskins, who was honored as one of the 70 Greatest Players in the Redskins history. They moved to the Washington D.C.area in Fairfax County Va., where she lived in a home she designed and Chuck built, until her passing. She had a razor sharp mind and a wit to match. She was one of the funniest people ever. She loved to cook, always making enough to feed an army and she fed everyone who ever stopped by. She fed an army of birds and animals too, who showed up at her window every morning. Betty was always making up menus for the next big feast. She was a fabulous dancer and loved the polkas, especially the Trel-Tones. She was a deeply devout Catholic with a devotion to St. Anthony and Mother Elizabeth Ann Seton. Betty enjoyed politics, the holidays, and most of all her family. She lived with her loving companion, her daughter Cheri and the two shared every moment together, wrapped in the joy of each other's company. Her daughter Lori's visits from out of state were eagerly anticipated as this meant the undividable trio was off to another adventure. Glamorous but never vain, strong-minded but open-hearted, Betty was extraordinary in every way. She was fiercely loyal to her family and kind to all, and her passing will leave a void that cannot be filled by a hundred lifetimes. As Don Mclean said in his song "Vincent", "This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you." Heaven truly has a new angel. She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Lori and Cheri, and her many friends, including the Jeff Eby family, the Robert Zias family and the hundreds of people who looked forward to her visits, phone calls, her cheerful laugh and words of encouragement. Viewing will be held on Sunday, November 24th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 at the SKIRPAN Funeral Home 135 Park Street, Brownsville, PA and on Monday until 10:30AM where a prayer service will be held, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00AM at St. Cecilia's R.C. Church - 1571 Grindstone Road, Grindstone, PA with Rev. Fr. James F. Petrovsky as celebrant. Interment will follow in Redstone Cemetery. A wake service will be held on Sunday evening at 6:00PM.
